RPL37

Description

The RPL37 (ribosomal protein L37) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

The RPL37 gene encodes 60S ribosomal protein L37, a protein that is a component of the large (60S) ribosomal subunit. Ribosomes are responsible for protein synthesis, and consist of a small (40S) and a large (60S) subunit. The RPL37 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that belongs to the L37E family. This protein is located in the cytoplasm and contains a C2C2-type zinc finger-like motif. As is common for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed throughout the genome.

Component of the large ribosomal subunit, which is responsible for protein synthesis in the cell. (PMID:23636399, PMID:32669547)

RPL37 is also known as L37, eL37.
