RPL22L1

Description

The RPL22L1 (ribosomal protein L22 like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

RPL22L1, or eL22L1, is a protein encoded by the RPL22L1 gene in humans. It‘s a paralog of the eL22 protein found in the 60S ribosomal subunit. While eL22L1 is divergent from the normal eL22 protein, it can compensate for its absence in mice, suggesting a similar role in ribosome function. However, eL22L1 has also been implicated in other cellular processes, including pre-mRNA splicing regulation in zebrafish.

RPL22L1, also known as eL22L1, is a ribosomal protein that plays a role similar to the normal eL22 protein in the 60S ribosomal subunit. It‘s expressed when the normal eL22 protein is missing, indicating it can compensate for its absence. Interestingly, eL22L1 has also been linked to other cellular processes beyond ribosome function, including regulating pre-mRNA splicing in zebrafish.
