RPA4
Description
The RPA4 (replication protein A4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
Replication protein A 30 kDa subunit is a protein encoded by the RPA4 gene in humans.
The alternative replication protein A complex (aRPA), which contains RPA4, binds to single-stranded DNA and likely contributes to DNA repair. Unlike the canonical RPA complex (containing RPA2), aRPA may not support chromosomal DNA replication or cell cycle progression through the S-phase. While aRPA may not efficiently promote priming by DNA polymerase alpha, it could support DNA polymerase delta synthesis in the presence of PCNA and replication factor C (RFC). This complex may also play a role in the dual incision/excision reaction of nucleotide excision repair and RAD51-dependent strand exchange.
RPA4 is also known as HSU24186.
