RNF121

Description

The RNF121 (ring finger protein 121) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

RNF121 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, receiving ubiquitin and transferring it to target proteins. This tagging with ubiquitin marks these proteins for degradation through the ERAD pathway, a process responsible for removing misfolded proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum. RNF121's activity may also play a role in regulating the unfolded protein response, a cellular mechanism that aims to reduce stress within the endoplasmic reticulum.

RNF121 is also known as -.
