RMND5A

Description

The RMND5A (required for meiotic nuclear division 5 homolog A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

RMND5A is a key component of the CTLH E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex, responsible for accepting ubiquitin from UBE2H and facilitating the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of the transcription factor HBP1. This process is crucial for normal cell proliferation. The catalytic activity of the complex is dependent on the presence of both RMND5A and MAEA. Notably, this complex does not play a role in the degradation of enzymes involved in gluconeogenesis, such as FBP1.

RMND5A is also known as CTLH, GID2, GID2A, RMD5, p44CTLH.
