RITA1

Description

The RITA1 (RBPJ interacting and tubulin associated 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

RITA1 is a protein that binds to tubulin and acts as a negative regulator of the Notch signaling pathway. It moves between the cytoplasm and nucleus, exporting RBPJ/RBPSUH out of the nucleus. This prevents RBPJ/RBPSUH from interacting with the NICD (Notch intracellular domain), which in turn downregulates Notch-mediated transcription. RITA1 may also play a role in neurogenesis.

RITA1 is also known as C12orf52, RITA.
