RIOK3
Description
The RIOK3 (RIO kinase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.
RIOK3 is involved in regulating type I interferon (IFN)-dependent immune responses, which are crucial for the innate immune defense against DNA and RNA viruses. RIOK3 may function as an adapter protein, facilitating the interaction of TBK1 with IRF3. It phosphorylates IFIH1 at Ser-828, disrupting IFIH1 filament assembly on long dsRNA and leading to weakened IFIH1 signaling. RIOK3 can also suppress CASP10 isoform 7-mediated activation of the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. Additionally, RIOK3 might play a role in the biogenesis of the 40S ribosomal subunit and is involved in the processing of 21S pre-rRNA into the mature 18S rRNA.
RIOK3 is also known as SUDD.
