RGS7BP

Description

The RGS7BP (regulator of G protein signaling 7 binding protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

RGS7BP is involved in the regulation of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling. As a regulatory subunit of the R7-Gbeta5 complexes, it controls their subcellular location. Palmitoylation of RGS7BP directs the complexes to the plasma membrane, inhibiting G protein alpha subunits. Conversely, unpalmitoylated RGS7BP allows the complexes to shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. RGS7BP may also contribute to the proteolytic stability of R7 proteins, potentially protecting them from degradation.

RGS7BP is also known as R7BP.
