RBM47

Description

The RBM47 (RNA binding motif protein 47) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

RNA binding motif protein 47 is a protein in humans that is encoded by the RBM47 gene located on chromosome 4.

RBM47 is a single-stranded RNA-binding protein that participates in a variety of RNA processes, including alternative splicing, RNA stabilization, and RNA editing. It serves as an enzyme-substrate adapter for the cytidine deaminase APOBEC1, forming an mRNA editing complex that converts cytidine to uridine in various mRNA molecules. RBM47 also stabilizes numerous mRNAs by binding to their 3' untranslated regions (UTRs), regulating the expression of genes such as the interferon alpha/beta receptor and interleukin-10. Moreover, RBM47 is involved in the alternative splicing of several genes, including TJP1, by binding to pre-mRNA (U)GCAUG consensus sequences within downstream intronic regions of alternative exons, influencing their inclusion or exclusion in mRNAs. Independent of its RNA-binding activity, RBM47 can negatively regulate MAVS by promoting its lysosomal degradation. RBM47 exists as a homodimer and interacts with A1CF, APOBEC1 (forming an mRNA editing complex), and RBPMS.

RBM47 is also known as NET18.
