RBM23

Description

The RBM23 (RNA binding motif protein 23) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

RBM23 is a human gene that encodes a protein belonging to the U2AF-like family of RNA binding proteins. This protein interacts with steroid nuclear receptors and localizes to the promoter of steroid-responsive genes. It enhances transcription of steroid-responsive genes in a hormone-dependent manner and is implicated in the steroid receptor-dependent regulation of alternative splicing. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.

RBM23 is a RNA-binding protein that acts as both a transcription coactivator and pre-mRNA splicing factor. It regulates steroid hormone receptor-mediated transcription independently of its pre-mRNA splicing factor activity.

RBM23 is also known as CAPERbeta, PP239, RNPC4.
