RASD1
Description
The RASD1 (ras related dexamethasone induced 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
RASD1 (Dexamethasone-induced Ras-related protein 1) is a protein encoded by the RASD1 gene on chromosome 17. It is expressed in various tissues and cell types. As a member of the Ras superfamily, RASD1 regulates signal transduction pathways. It has been linked to several cancers and a SNP in the RASD1 gene is associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease. The RASD1 gene has two exons and produces two isoforms through alternative splicing. It contains a glucocorticoid response element (GRE) in its 3'-flanking region, allowing glucocorticoids to induce its expression. RASD1 is a small GTPase, sharing motifs characteristic of Ras proteins, including four highly conserved GTP binding pocket domains: GXXXXGK(S/T) (domain Σ1), DXXG (domain Σ2), NKXD (domain Σ3), and EXSAK (domain Σ4).
RASD1 is a small GTPase that negatively regulates the transcription regulation activity of the APBB1/FE65-APP complex by interacting with APBB1/FE65.
