RABGAP1L

Description

The RABGAP1L (RAB GTPase activating protein 1 like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

RABGAP1L, a GTP-hydrolysis activating protein (GAP) for the small GTPase RAB22A, converts active RAB22A-GTP to its inactive form, RAB22A-GDP. This activity is crucial for endocytosis and intracellular protein transport. RABGAP1L is recruited by ANK2 to early endosomes, where it inactivates RAB22A and facilitates polarized trafficking to the leading edge of migrating cells. RABGAP1L is part of the ANK2/RABGAP1L complex, which is essential for the polarized recycling of the fibronectin receptor, ITGA5 ITGB1, to the plasma membrane, thereby enabling continuous directional cell migration.

RABGAP1L is also known as HHL, TBC1D18.
