RAB32

Description

The RAB32 (RAB32, member RAS oncogene family) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

RAB32 acts as an A-kinase anchoring protein by binding to the type II regulatory subunit of protein kinase A and anchoring it to the mitochondrion. It is also involved in the synchronization of mitochondrial fission. RAB32 plays a role in the maturation of phagosomes that engulf pathogens, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It plays a crucial role in the control of melanin production and melanosome biogenesis. In collaboration with RAB38, RAB32 regulates the proper trafficking of melanogenic enzymes TYR, TYRP1, and DCT/TYRP2 to melanosomes in melanocytes.

RAB32 is also known as -.
