PRELID1

Description

The PRELID1 (PRELI domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

PRELID1 plays a critical role in regulating the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway by ensuring the accumulation of cardiolipin (CL) within mitochondrial membranes. This protein forms a complex with TRIAP1 in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, facilitating the transfer of phosphatidic acid (PA) between liposomes. This complex likely functions as a PA transporter across the intermembrane space, supplying PA for CL synthesis within the inner membrane. PRELID1 also regulates the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway in primary T helper (Th) cells, influencing Th cell differentiation by downregulating STAT6 and subsequently reducing the number of IL-4-induced Th2 cells. These actions suggest that PRELID1 may be essential for the development of vital organs and the establishment of a competent immune system.

PRELID1 is also known as CGI-106, PRELI, PX19, SBBI12.
