TRIM2
Description
The TRIM2 (tripartite motif containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.
TRIM2 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that requires UBE2D1 for its activity. It ubiquitinates NEFL and phosphorylated BCL2L11, playing a neuroprotective role. TRIM2 may also contribute to neuronal rapid ischemic tolerance and antiviral immunity. It limits New World arenavirus infection independently of its ubiquitin ligase activity.
TRIM2 is also known as CMT2R, RNF86.
