TMEM260

Description

The TMEM260 (transmembrane protein 260) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

TMEM260 is a protein encoded by the TMEM260 gene in humans. Its function is not completely understood. It is also known as UPF0679, c14orf101, and FLJ0392.

The TMEM260 gene is located on chromosome 14, specifically on band 22.3 of the small arm. It spans a genomic region of 162,253 base pairs, starting at position 56,955,072 bp and ending at 57,117,324 bp. The gene's mRNA is 4,278 base pairs long and consists of 15 exons.

There are four other genes in the vicinity of TMEM260. Two genes are located upstream of TMEM260: LINC00520, a long intergenic non-protein coding RNA gene, and PELI2, a pellino E3 ubiquitin protein ligase family member 2 gene.

TMEM260 is an O-mannosyl-transferase enzyme responsible for attaching mannose sugar molecules to serine or threonine amino acids within proteins. This process, known as O-mannosylation, specifically targets the IPT/TIG domain of proteins such as MET and MST1R/RON. The mannose glycans added by TMEM260 are simple, consisting of a single mannose unit without any further elongation or modifications.

TMEM260 is also known as C14orf101, SHDRA.
