TENT5A is a cytoplasmic non-canonical poly(A) RNA polymerase. It adds a single adenosine molecule from ATP to the 3'-OH end of an mRNA poly(A) tail, participating in cytoplasmic polyadenylation (PubMed:33882302). TENT5A polyadenylates mRNAs encoding extracellular matrix components and other genes vital for bone mineralization and osteoblast mineralization. Its primary targets are ER-targeted mRNAs (By similarity).
