TENM3

Description

The TENM3 gene, encodes a transmembrane protein crucial for cell-cell adhesion and signaling. Its protein product, tenascin-M, is a large, modular protein with multiple domains, including epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats and fibronectin type III domains. TENM3 plays a significant role in regulating cell migration, differentiation, and morphogenesis during embryonic development. It is expressed in various tissues, including the nervous system, skeletal muscle, and heart. The gene‘s function is closely intertwined with developmental processes, and disruptions in its expression or function can lead to a range of developmental disorders.
