TENM1

Description

The TENM1 gene, plays a crucial role in the development and function of the nervous system. It encodes a protein called tenascin-M, which is a large extracellular matrix protein. Tenascin-M is involved in cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation, processes essential for the formation of complex neuronal networks. Its expression is highly regulated during development, with peak expression in the embryonic brain and spinal cord. As the nervous system matures, TENM1 expression decreases, suggesting its critical role in early neurodevelopment.
