TDRD7
Description
The TDRD7 (tudor domain containing 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
TDRD7 (Tudor domain-containing protein 7) is a protein encoded by the TDRD7 gene in humans. Its expression in melanocytic cells is potentially regulated by MITF. TDRD7 has been shown to interact with TACC1. Some single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the TDRD7 gene have been linked to a lower susceptibility to age-related cataracts.
TDRD7 is a component of cytoplasmic RNA granules involved in regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, likely by binding to specific mRNAs and modulating their translation. It plays a crucial role in maintaining lens transparency during development by regulating the translation of genes like CRYBB3 and HSPB1. TDRD7 is also essential for proper spermatogenesis.
TDRD7 is also known as CATC4, PCTAIRE2BP, TRAP.
