TANGO2
Description
The TANGO2 (transport and golgi organization 2 homolog) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
TANGO2, also known as C22orf25, is a protein encoded by the TANGO2 gene in humans. Its function is currently unknown, but it contains the NRDE superfamily domain (DUF883), which is involved in Golgi organization and protein secretion. This domain is found across various species and is likely involved in anchoring TANGO2 to the cell membrane. TANGO2 is also similar to proteins found in the Fowlpox and Canarypox viruses. The TANGO2 gene is located on chromosome 22 in the region 22q11.21, which is associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, a genetic disorder with various phenotypes. This syndrome is caused by a deletion of a large region on chromosome 22, spanning around 30-40 genes, including TANGO2.
TANGO2 is also known as C22orf25, MECRCN.
