SYCE1

Description

The SYCE1 (synaptonemal complex central element protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

SYCE1 is a key component of the central element within the synaptonemal complex (SCS) that forms between paired chromosomes during meiotic prophase. It relies on the presence of SYCP1 to be integrated into the central element and potentially plays a role in the assembly, stability, and recombination of the synaptonemal complex.

SYCE1 is also known as C10orf94, CT76, POF12, SPGF15.
