SIK3
Description
The SIK3 (SIK family kinase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
SIK3 positively regulates mTOR signaling by promoting the degradation of DEPTOR, an inhibitor of mTOR. It plays a role in the dynamic regulation of mTOR signaling during chondrocyte differentiation in skeletogenesis. Additionally, SIK3 negatively regulates the cAMP signaling pathway by potentially acting on CRTC2/TORC2 and CRTC3/TORC3. It prevents HDAC4 from translocating to the nucleus.
SIK3 is also known as L19, QSK, SEMDK, SIK-3.
