SAG

Description

The SAG (S-antigen visual arrestin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

SAG, SAg, or sag can refer to various things.

SAG binds to activated and phosphorylated rhodopsin (RHO) and stops its signaling through G-proteins by outcompeting them for the same binding site on RHO. This suggests SAG might play a role in safeguarding retinal photoreceptor cells from light-induced damage.

SAG is also known as RP47, RP96, S-AG.
