RNF170
Description
The RNF170 (ring finger protein 170) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
RNF170 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, playing a crucial role in the degradation of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor type 1 (ITPR1) protein through the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway. This degradation is triggered by various stimuli. Additionally, RNF170 contributes to the turnover of ITPR1 even in resting cells. Furthermore, RNF170 selectively inhibits the innate immune response triggered by TLR3 by promoting the polyubiquitination and degradation of TLR3. This ubiquitination is linked to lysine residue 48.
RNF170 is also known as ADSA, SNAX1, SPG85.
