NUP37

Description

The NUP37 (nucleoporin 37) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Nup37, encoded by the NUP37 gene, is a protein involved in the transport of molecules between the cytoplasm and nucleus through nuclear pore complexes (NPCs). NPCs are embedded in the nuclear envelope and are composed of subcomplexes, one of which is the Nup107-160 subcomplex. Nup37 is a component of this subcomplex.

Nup37 is a component of the Nup107-160 subcomplex, which is essential for the assembly of a functional nuclear pore complex (NPC). This subcomplex also plays a crucial role in proper kinetochore microtubule attachment, mitotic progression, and chromosome segregation during cell division.

NUP37 is also known as MCPH24, p37.
