KLC2
Description
The KLC2 (kinesin light chain 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
KLC2, the gene encoding kinesin light chain 2, produces a protein involved in intracellular transport in humans.
Kinesin is a microtubule-associated force-producing protein involved in organelle transport. The light chain facilitates cargo coupling to the heavy chain and may modulate ATPase activity. Binding to PLEKHM2 and ARL8B recruits kinesin-1 to lysosomes, directing their movement towards microtubule plus ends (PubMed:22172677).
