GRAP

Description

The GRAP (GRB2 related adaptor protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The GRAP gene encodes a protein belonging to the GRB2/Sem5/Drk family. This cytoplasmic signaling protein contains an SH2 domain flanked by two SH3 domains. Its SH2 domain interacts with ligand-activated receptors for stem cell factor and erythropoietin, and it forms a stable complex with the BCR-ABL oncoprotein. Additionally, GRAP interacts with the Ras guanine nucleotide exchange factor SOS1 via its N-terminal SH3 domain. It has been shown to interact with Linker of activated T cells.

GRAP acts as a mediator, relaying signals from receptor and cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases to the Ras signaling pathway. It also contributes to the function of the inner ear and hearing.

GRAP is also known as DFNB114.
