ELP2

Description

The ELP2 (elongator acetyltransferase complex subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

Elongator complex protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ELP2 gene. ELP2 has been shown to interact with STAT3 and Janus kinase 1.

ELP2 is part of the elongator complex, which plays a vital role in modifying tRNA molecules. Specifically, it contributes to the creation of several modified uridine bases within tRNA, including mcm5U, mcm5s2U, and ncm5U. The elongator complex also facilitates the formation of carboxymethyluridine at position 34 in tRNAs, a critical modification in the wobble base.

ELP2 is also known as MRT58, SHINC-2, STATIP1, StIP.
