DRC1
Description
The DRC1 (dynein regulatory complex subunit 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
DRC1 is part of the nexin-dynein regulatory complex (N-DRC), a key regulator of ciliary/flagellar movement. It helps maintain the alignment and integrity of the distal axoneme and controls microtubule sliding in motile axonemes. DRC1 plays a crucial role in the assembly of the N-DRC and stabilizes the assembly of multiple inner dynein arms and radial spokes. It forms a central scaffold with CCDC65/DRC2 for N-DRC assembly and attachment to the outer doublet microtubules. DRC1 interacts with CCDC65/DRC2, DRC3, GAS8/DRC4, and TCTE1/DRC5.
DRC1 is also known as C2orf39, CCDC164, CILD21, SPGF80.
