CTSC
Description
The CTSC (cathepsin C) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
CTSC refers to the human gene encoding the protein cathepsin C.
CTSC is a thiol protease with dipeptidylpeptidase activity. It acts on a wide variety of dipeptide substrates composed of both polar and hydrophobic amino acids. It cannot cleave substrates with proline at the P1 position or arginine at the P2 position. CTSC functions as both an exopeptidase and endopeptidase. It activates serine proteases including elastase, cathepsin G, and granzymes A and B.
CTSC is also known as CPPI, DPP-I, DPP1, DPPI, HMS, JP, JPD, PALS, PDON1, PLS.
