COG1

Description

The COG1 (component of oligomeric golgi complex 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Conserved oligomeric Golgi complex subunit 1 (COG1) is a protein encoded by the COG1 gene in humans. It is one of eight proteins (Cog1-8) that together form the COG complex, a crucial component of the Golgi apparatus. This complex is essential for maintaining the proper structure and function of the Golgi, particularly in the processing of glycoconjugates in the medial and trans-Golgi compartments. COG1 is thought to be involved in the organization of the COG complex. COG1 has been shown to interact with COG4 and COG3.

Plays a critical role in maintaining the normal function of the Golgi apparatus.

COG1 is also known as CDG2G, LDLB.
