CARS1

Description

The CARS1 (cysteinyl-tRNA synthetase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

CARS1 catalyzes the attachment of the amino acid cysteine to its corresponding transfer RNA (tRNA(Cys)) molecule. This process, known as aminoacylation, is driven by the energy from ATP.

CARS1 is also known as CARS, CYSRS, MCDDBH, MDBH, MGC:11246.
