ATCAY

Description

The ATCAY (ATCAY kinesin light chain interacting caytaxin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

ATCAY, also known as Caytaxin, plays a crucial role in the development of neural tissues, particularly in the postnatal maturation of the cerebellar cortex. It might be involved in neurotransmission by regulating glutaminase/GLS, an enzyme responsible for producing the glutamate neurotransmitter in neurons. Alternatively, it could regulate the localization of mitochondria within axons and dendrites.

ATCAY is also known as BNIP-H, CLAC.
