PRB1

Description

The PRB1 (proline rich protein BstNI subfamily 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The PRB1 gene encodes a protein called basic salivary proline-rich protein 1. This protein is rich in the amino acid proline and is found in saliva. The gene is located on chromosome 12, along with several other genes that encode similar proline-rich proteins. These genes form a cluster in the 12p13 region. Alternative splicing of the PRB1 gene can produce different versions of the protein.

The PRB1 gene encodes a salivary proline-rich protein (PRP), which is a type of protein found in saliva. This protein plays a role in a variety of functions, including lubrication, protection of teeth, and antibacterial activity.

PRB1 is also known as PM, PMF, PMS, PRB1L, PRB1M.
