PPIH

Description

The PPIH (peptidylprolyl isomerase H) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase H is an enzyme encoded by the PPIH gene in humans. It belongs to the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family, which catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and accelerates protein folding. PPIase H is specifically found within a complex containing pre-mRNA processing factors PRPF3, PRPF4, and PRPF18, as well as U4/U5/U6 tri-snRNP. It exhibits PPIase activity and may act as a protein chaperone, mediating interactions between different proteins within the spliceosome.

PPIase H (also known as Rotamase H, Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particle-specific cyclophilin H, U-snRNP-associated cyclophilin SnuCyp-20) catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides, potentially assisting protein folding. It participates in pre-mRNA splicing and may play a role in the assembly of the U4/U5/U6 tri-snRNP complex, a component of the spliceosome. PPIase H may also function as a chaperone.

PPIH is also known as CYP-20, CYPH, SnuCyp-20, USA-CYP.
