POP7

Description

The POP7 (POP7 homolog, ribonuclease P/MRP subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The POP7 gene encodes the Ribonuclease P protein subunit p20, an enzyme involved in the processing of RNA molecules. This gene is located on chromosome 19 in humans. The POP7 gene is part of the RNase P complex, which is responsible for generating mature tRNA molecules by cleaving their 5'-ends. It is also a component of the MRP ribonuclease complex, which cleaves pre-rRNA sequences. Both RNase P and MRP are important for the production of functional RNA molecules.

The POP7 gene encodes the protein subunit p20, which is a component of the ribonuclease P (RNase P) and MRP ribonuclease complexes. RNase P generates mature tRNA molecules by cleaving their 5'-ends, while MRP cleaves pre-rRNA sequences. Both complexes are essential for the processing of RNA molecules in the cell.

POP7 is also known as 0610037N12Rik, RPP2, RPP20.
