POM121C

Description

The POM121C (POM121 transmembrane nucleoporin C) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

POM121C is a crucial component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), a structure that regulates the transport of molecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Its repeat-containing domain likely plays a role in attaching other NPC components to the nuclear pore membrane. Overexpression of POM121C in cells leads to the formation of cytoplasmic annulate lamellae (AL), structures resembling the nuclear envelope that may be involved in lipid metabolism.

POM121C is also known as POM121-2.
