The POLR2J2 (RNA polymerase II subunit J2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

POLR2J2, also known as DNA directed RNA polymerase II polypeptide J-related gene, is a human gene belonging to the RNA polymerase II subunit 11 gene family. This family includes three genes on chromosome 7q22.1 and a pseudogene on chromosome 7p13. The founding member of this family, DNA directed RNA polymerase II polypeptide J, encodes a subunit of RNA polymerase II, which is responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes. POLR2J2 produces multiple, alternatively spliced transcripts that potentially express isoforms with distinct C-termini compared to DNA directed RNA polymerase II polypeptide J. Most or all variants include additional non-coding exons at the 3' end, making them candidates for nonsense-mediated decay (NMD). It is not known if this locus expresses a protein or proteins in vivo.

POLR2J2, also known as DNA-directed RNA polymerase II subunit J2, is a component of RNA polymerase II, the enzyme that synthesizes messenger RNA (mRNA) and other functional non-coding RNAs from DNA. RNA polymerase II is composed of several subunits, including RPB11, which forms part of the core element with a central large cleft. POLR2J2 contributes to the overall function of RNA polymerase II by participating in the transcription process.
