PODXL2

Description

The PODXL2 (podocalyxin like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

PODXL2 is a gene that encodes a protein belonging to the CD34 family of cell surface transmembrane proteins. These proteins are characterized by an N-terminal extracellular mucin domain, globular and stalk domains, a single pass transmembrane region, and a charged cytoplasmic tail. The protein encoded by PODXL2 is a ligand for vascular selectins and mediates rapid rolling of leukocytes over vascular surfaces through high affinity divalent cation-dependent interactions with E-, P- and L-selectins.

PODXL2 acts as a ligand for vascular selectins. It mediates rapid rolling of leukocytes over vascular surfaces through high affinity divalent cation-dependent interactions with E-, P- and L-selectins.

PODXL2 is also known as EG, PODLX2.
