PLGRKT
Description
The PLGRKT (plasminogen receptor with a C-terminal lysine) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
PLGRKT is a receptor for plasminogen. It plays a role in regulating plasminogen activation on cell surfaces, both through urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA). This receptor is believed to be part of a local catecholaminergic cell plasminogen activation system involved in neuroendocrine prohormone processing. PLGRKT also contributes to the inflammatory response by regulating monocyte chemotactic migration and the activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), including MMP2 and MMP9.
PLGRKT is also known as AD025, C9orf46, MDS030, PLG-RKT, Plg-R(KT).
