PIR

Description

The PIR (pirin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

PIR, or Pir, can refer to the human gene PIR, which encodes the protein Pirin.

PIR acts as a transcriptional coregulator of NF-kappa-B, enhancing the binding of NF-kappa-B proteins to target kappa-B genes in a manner dependent on redox state. PIR may be crucial for the effective terminal myeloid maturation of hematopoietic cells. It possesses quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase activity in vitro.

PIR is also known as -.
