PDLIM5

Description

The PDLIM5 (PDZ and LIM domain 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

PDZ and LIM domain protein 5 is a protein found in humans that is encoded by the PDLIM5 gene. It belongs to a family of proteins known as LIM domain proteins, characterized by cysteine-rich zinc finger structures involved in protein interactions. These proteins are essential for forming multiprotein complexes and play various roles, including organizing the cytoskeleton, cell development, organ formation, and cancer development. PDLIM5 is also classified as an Enigma protein, containing a PDZ domain at the N-terminus and LIM domains at the C-terminus. Multiple variations of the PDLIM5 gene have been discovered, resulting in different protein isoforms, though not all have been fully characterized. PDLIM5 has been observed to interact with the protein PRKCB1.

PDLIM5 is also known as ENH, ENH1, L9, LIM.
