PDE7A

Description

The PDE7A (phosphodiesterase 7A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

PDE7A is a human gene that encodes the enzyme high affinity cAMP-specific 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase 7A. It belongs to the PDE7 family, one of 11 families within the 21 cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) genes in mammals. The PDE7 family, along with the PDE4 and PDE8 families, are cAMP-specific, exhibiting little to no activity against 3', 5'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). The other gene in the PDE7 family is PDE7B.

PDE7A hydrolyzes cAMP, a key regulator of many physiological processes, potentially playing a role in muscle signal transduction.

PDE7A is also known as HCP1, PDE7.
