PCDH18

Description

The PCDH18 (protocadherin 18) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

Protocadherin-18 is a protein encoded by the PCDH18 gene. It belongs to the protocadherin gene family, a subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. This protein has 6 extracellular cadherin domains, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail distinct from those found in classic cadherins. While its exact function remains unknown, it is believed to play a role in creating and maintaining specific cell-to-cell connections within the brain.

PCDH18 is also known as PCDH68L.
