PASD1

Description

The PASD1 (PAS domain containing repressor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

PASD1, encoded by the PASD1 gene, inhibits the transcriptional activity between CLOCK and BMAL1. This inhibition of clock function appears to be co-opted in cancer cells.

PASD1 acts as a suppressor of the biological clock, inhibiting the CLOCK-BMAL1 heterodimer-mediated transcriptional activation of core clock components. This inhibition of circadian clock function is particularly evident in cancer cells when PASD1 is overexpressed.

PASD1 is also known as CT63, CT64, OXTES1.
