PARVB
Description
The PARVB (parvin beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
Beta-parvin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PARVB gene.
Beta-parvin, also known as Affixin, acts as an adapter protein. It plays a crucial role in integrin signaling through its interaction with ILK (integrin-linked kinase) and in the activation of GTPases CDC42 and RAC1 by guanine exchange factors, such as ARHGEF6. This protein is involved in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and the formation of lamellipodia, which are essential for cell motility. It contributes to cell adhesion, cell spreading, the establishment or maintenance of cell polarity, and cell migration. These functions are supported by evidence from various studies, including those published in PubMed with IDs 11402068, 15005707, 15159419, 15284246, and 18325335.
