PAAF1

Description

The PAAF1 (proteasomal ATPase associated factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

PAAF1 (Proteasomal ATPase-associated factor 1) is an enzyme encoded by the PAAF1 gene in humans. PAAF1 has been shown to interact with PSMD10.

PAAF1 inhibits the assembly and activity of the proteasome 26S by preventing the 19S regulatory complex from attaching to the 20S core. In cases of HIV-1 infection, PAAF1 is recruited by viral Tat to the HIV-1 promoter. This action facilitates the recruitment of the 19S regulatory complex by dissociating the proteasome 26S, which likely enhances provirus transcription efficiency. PAAF1 safeguards SUPT6H from proteasomal degradation.

PAAF1 is also known as PAAF, Rpn14, WDR71.
