OTUB2

Description

The OTUB2 (OTU deubiquitinase, ubiquitin aldehyde binding 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

OTUB2 is an enzyme encoded by the human OTUB2 gene. It belongs to the otubain family, which are deubiquitinating cysteine proteases (DUBs). Like other DUBs, OTUB2 cleaves proteins at the ubiquitin (UB)-protein bond.

OTUB2 is an enzyme that removes ubiquitin from proteins, potentially regulating protein turnover by preventing degradation. It can process 'Lys-11'-, 'Lys-48'-, and 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains, with a preference for 'Lys-63'-linked chains. This activity is supported by evidence from multiple studies (PubMed:12704427, PubMed:18954305, PubMed:23827681).

OTUB2 is also known as C14orf137, OTB2, OTU2.
