THSD4

Description

The THSD4 (thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

THSD4 promotes the assembly of fibrillin-1 (FBN1) matrix, a key component of microfibrils. It also dampens the signaling of transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) by potentially hastening the trapping of latent or active TGFB complexes within FBN1 microfibrils. This sequestration reduces the availability of TGFB to interact with its target genes, leading to decreased expression of genes like periostin (POSTN), which are regulated by TGFB.

THSD4 is also known as AAT12, ADAMTSL-6, ADAMTSL6, FVSY9334, PRO34005.
